October, 2026 - Despite some poor online reviews, I decided to acquire this lens because the focal length is very useful for my shooting style. The Fujifilm 16-80mm f/4 has a premium feel and smooth action. One of the biggest complaints is that the zoom creeps when you are carrying it. At its collapsed minimum focal length, it locks and does not creep. While zoomed, it can creep (as do all zoom lenses), but if it’s in a horizontal shooting position it will not creep. So basically, if you carry it collapsed or fully zoomed, you will not have an issue. The autofocus is fast and silent. I took it on a walk around in Seal Beach and here are some photos from the day. I haven’t had a lot of time with it, but at this time, I’m pleased with its performance. Time will tell.
