2014 Track and Field - Part 1

WALNUT, Calif. (April 18-19, 2014) - Another year at the Mt. SAC Relays...this has become a tradition for me because of the competition and phenomenal athletes. This year turned out to have a slightly different format plus the absence of printed schedules. It took me a little bit to get used to trying to read an iPhone in bright sunlight and relying on audibles from the announcers. All in all, I adapted quickly and here are some selections from the event.

Comfortably numb

LAS VEGAS, NV (April 4, 2014) - Spent the weekend at the Bellagio thanks to Mr. Miller and Jaqueline. There was a little work involved, but also a little relaxation and pleasure. The lead image speaks to the latter...Here are a some images from the weekend.

Gaining steam

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (March 31, 2014) - Professional cameras in general seem to have plateaued in recent times. The major manufacturers like Canon, Nikon and Sony are bumping against the limits of the 35mm sensor. In addition, DSLR prices have just skyrocketed to the point where who wants to spend $6-7k on a camera body? While DSLRs have plateaued, phones have grown by leaps and bounds with regards to the capabilities of the camera. Enter the Nokia Lumia Icon with its 20mp camera. Pretty unbelievable in both the photo and video arena. I put the camera through some tests and it faired very well. Below are some samples.

The Happiest Place on Earth

05:30 - Black Friday: I wake up to the sound of heavy rain. I thought it never rains in Southern Cal? I usually welcome a little rain, however today was our Club 33 guided tour. Thank goodness it was scheduled to start at 11:00. By the time we arrived at the park the rain had stopped. For those not familiar, we were assigned a personal tour guide for the day. Our guide shared lots of Disney facts and most importantly, was able to get us to the front of rides without waiting. By the end of the night we were able to get on 16 major attractions and shows. I don't think I'll ever be able to visit the park with normal admission again. Anyway, here are some photos I captured throughout the day.
