San Diego Scenery

We headed down to the San Diego area a few weeks ago for a Show Choir event. We decided to stay for the weekend and hit a pocket of beautiful weather. We met up with Jessica's cousin Brittany and husband Sal for the weekend. They have been stationed in England for the past three years, so it was good to see them. Here are some images from the day. All images captured with the Zeiss 21mm and/or Nikon 70-200 VR.

Dirtbag Baseball

This Memorial Day weekend's Baseball series between Cal State Long Beach and Cal State Fullerton was a dual for the Big West Championship and a bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Titans started off Friday night with a 4-0 win at Blair Field.  Saturday's game was claimed by the Dirtbags 5-1 to bring the series even. Sunday was the deciding game which the Titans held off the Dirtbags 5-1 to win the Big West Conference. Here are some selections from Saturday's game.

2012 Mt. SAC Relays - Part 3

With 2012 being an Olympic year, I was looking forward to some Olympians on the final day of the Mt. SAC Relays. I captured the first image as a race was getting ready to start. Allyson squatted for the start of the race and looked right into my lens from across the track.

2012 Mt. SAC Relays - Part 2

Day two started with some what of a surprise. The Cal State Dominguez Hills Women's 4x100 relay team showed up for the first time in many years. These girls have had a fantastic season and won the Women's 4x100 relay and finished fifth overall improving their qualifying time to 46.81.

2012 Mt. SAC Relays - Part 1

I spent three days this month in Walnut covering the 54th running of the Mt. SAC Relays. Interestingly, I heard that this is the largest Track & Field meet in the world. Not sure if this is the case, but it was nice to be back to the typical three day format (unlike last year). Below is the article that ran in the newspaper and a few selections from the first day's Steeple Chase. The wide angle photos were shot with a remote. More to follow...

Forum Music Festival

Jessica's Show Choir performed a couple weeks ago at the historic Plummber Auditorium in Fullerton which was built in the 1930s. The auditorium has Spanish Colonial Revival architecture with Italian Renaissance design elements and seats over 1,300 people. It features an elaborate ceiling of painted and decorated rough-hewn beams, the original wrought iron chandeliers, arched side isles with composite capitals, and other classical ornamentation. It was hard to get a decent exposure up there, but here's what I came up with.

Storm Windows

With rain in the forecast for tomorrow, I got up early and took a walk through the Bolsa Chica Wetlands. It was a nice morning (~50 degrees). There are some homes that border the Wetlands and are divided by a glass fence/wall. The first photo was shot into the backyard of one of the homes with the reflection from the sky in the glass.

One and Done

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Coming off the huge Long Beach State win, the Titans fizzled out of the gate in the opening round of The Big West Tournament. No. 7 seeded UC Irvine upset the No. 2 Titans in the opening round 66-59 at the Honda Center. Senior Omondi Amoke (#21) set a tournament record with 21 rebounds and senior Orane Chin (#15) scored 20 points in their final collegiate game.
